Terms of Service
Effective June 22, 2026
1. The service
Capital Compass is a web application that helps small business owners prepare loan packages for submission to lenders. It uses an AI-guided conversation to collect business and financial information, models that information into financial projections, and exports formatted documents (Word and Excel) intended for lender review.
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Not financial advice
Capital Compass is a document-preparation and financial-modeling tool, not a licensed financial advisor, loan broker, or lender. Nothing the service produces constitutes financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. The outputs are preparation aids — your accountant, attorney, and lender should review all figures before any financial decision is made.
We make no representations about whether any loan application will be approved, what terms any lender will offer, or whether your business will qualify for financing.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be 18 years of age or older and capable of forming a binding contract to use Capital Compass. By creating an account you represent that this is true.
You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Because we use magic-link authentication, this means keeping your email account secure. Notify us immediately at support@cptlcompass.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
4. Your content and data
You retain ownership of all business information, financial data, and other content you enter into Capital Compass (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the service.
You represent that Your Content is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to submit it. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. Submitting false or materially misleading financial information to a lender may violate federal and state law.
5. Collaborators and sharing
You may invite other people to view or contribute to your loan package. By inviting someone, you authorize them to access your package according to the role you assign. You are responsible for all activity on your account, including activity by people you invite. Remove collaborators at any time through the package settings.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, fraudulent, or misleading information, including information intended to deceive a lender.
- Use the service to prepare documents for any purpose other than legitimate business financing.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the AI models, prompts, or scoring logic underlying the service.
- Access another user's data without their authorization.
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable law.
- Transmit malware, spam, or any content that could harm the service or other users.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.
7. AI-generated content
Portions of your loan package documents are generated by AI. AI systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent output. You must review all AI-generated content for accuracy before submitting any document to a lender. Capital Compass is a starting point, not a finished product you can submit without review.
8. Intellectual property
The Capital Compass application, including its design, code, prompts, scoring models, and document templates, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the service without our written permission.
The documents you generate from Your Content are yours to use as you see fit.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular output will meet your needs or be accepted by any lender.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Capital Compass and its owners, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) $100.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Capital Compass and its owners, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@cptlcompass.com. We will delete your data within 30 days per our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice. Sections 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Capital Compass is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall first be addressed by contacting us at support@cptlcompass.com.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
